About Me

My photo
I'm a happily married crafter. Our grown daughter is the light of my world. And the fact that our son-in-law gets that makes him pretty special in my book! My daughter shares in my creativity! I've been scrapbooking for over 15 yrs but now mostly make cards to sell. I love mixed media, mini's, and altered art! My favorite thing is to scrap with friends in My Happy Place!

ART CANNOT BE JUDGED

I'm finding this difficult, keeping up this blog. I haven't posted forever! Finding it hard to do without a computer and only have my iPad. So maybe for now I can just write.
This past weekend I went to a Scrapbook Expo with my friend Pam. We had a wonderful time! Our friend Sharon met us there. Sharon had never been there before. She draws, and very well I might add. She even won the door prize which was $100 in show-bucks! She spent it all in the Stampers Anonymous booth! She had never seen Tim Holtz products before but she was SOLD😄! Legs and feet got tired so we needed a break. After finding a place to sit in the cafeteria or dining room, we did a little  " show n tell"  of all we bought and then Sharon told me something that really struck a cord with me. Simple words but powerful indeed. Something I really needed to hear.
She said,  "Art Cannot Be Judged!"
I'm like...wait a minute. I make cards and if anyone is interested in buying them I'll sell them. But I've had (one lady in particular) say my card was so-so.😭 It hurt me deeply. I won't make cards for her anymore but I'm afraid to make them for anyone now. Sharon said that she draws and some will look at the drawing and says  'this part doesn't look right' or something like that. Sharon says  "No, this is actually what it looks like to ME."  We don't all see things the same! And it doesn't matter. We should not judge ourselves or  judge others either. I make cards the way I see the design in my own mind.  Great and powerful words to meditate on... "ART CANNOT BE JUDGED".

It's been a long time since I last posted. Why? Well, my computer crashed! What can I say? It was a long time leading to it's slow death. Thank goodness I had my cell phone but I had to do everything on it except it wouldn't allow me to log onto my blog account...still not sure why not. Anywho! I'm back! So I'll be posting soon! And I've got lots to blog about! I'm so happy!!!

Happy Anniversary Card

My daughter is encouraging me to use my own handwriting on my cards. What do you think?

The inside of this card I felt it was appropriate to keep with this fisherman theme so added some cheesecloth! My friends' parents loved it !

Loving Bright Colors!!!

This is one of those cards I really wanted to keep for myself ;) Love these bright colors and matching envelope!
The hot pink tulle I picked up at a garage sale...a whole spool of it for $1 :)

Allison designed it and I helped make it! :) Love to create with my girl <3

This Is For You Charlotte!

First time I finally got my hands on cheese cloth! Thanks Moony! :) I'm looking forward to using it on a mixed media canvas :D That will be fun! I hope you like this card Charlotte! This is also the first time I got to use my new chicken wire embossing folder too! My friend, Charlotte, likes roosters and chickens. I didn't really have anything else along those lines beside my little chickie stamp. ^_^  I'll have to be on the hunt for more ;) Thank you for stopping! Please leave a comment even if it's just to say Hello :)

More Cards I've Made Recently

'Smile' card. Blank inside and comes with an envelope.

Added Stickles and lace along with itty bitty pearls from Close To My Heart! Love the embossing!

'Just a note to say THANKS!'  Embossed, Tattered Flower die from Tim Holtz with a big ol' pearl! Topped off with a white feather :)

'Congratulations Graduate' card. Used a page from a song book. Stamped the jean pocket using a Close To My Heart stamp set. Popped it up with Pop Dots. Adorable! Flower brads. Stamped inside: 'You Did IT!' Tucked money in the pocket but you could use it as a gift card holder as well:)

Loving this pretty paper I used and I've been embossing paper a lot lately. Really love how it punches it up a notch! What do you think? Do you like these cards? :D

Some Cards I Made on the Scrapbook Retreat 2013

For this 'Thank You' card I tore up an old songbook with beautiful 'brotherly love' lyrics and then I decoupaged them on to the card base. The border is actually washi tape:) I should have taken the card out of its protective bag so you could see the fluffy black feather better. I added the pretty pink flower and heart gem and I sprinkled a few more tiny pearls. Voila!

The little crocheted flowers I thought were a sweet touch :)

Can you see the tiny pearl in the pink heart? :)

I really like how these came out! The tiny door knob is a bronzed brad :)

I made 8 anniversary cards and 10 Open House cards. I used beautiful Prima Marketing Papers for my cards. I hope you like them. They actually were a lot of work...stamping out each piece. Lots of fuzzy cutting  :) which I happen to like to do.  If so, please leave some love in the comments. I like feedback :) Thanks for stopping by!
